High-performing transport networks perform a critical role in transferring synchronisation from the DU to the radios with minimal intrinsic error.

To ensure the dynamic performance of synchronisation networks, clock references with high short and medium-term stabilities are the best choice. If the fronthaul enables an edge-grand master functionality, medium to long-term (4–24 hours) holdover is also needed.
