Corporate Environmental Policy
Rakon recognises the importance of protecting the environment and achieves environmental best practice through the following:
Implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Management System (EMS). As part of the EMS, Rakon seeks to deliver continuous environmental improvement and maintain business excellence.
Acting as a responsible company citizen and maintaining compliance to any applicable laws and regulations relating to the protection of the environment and the welfare of its employees. Rakon is focused on meeting our customers’ expectations and reserves the right to adhere to requirements or standards which exceed those of any applicable laws and regulations.
Endeavouring to minimise, reuse, recycle and/or use appropriate methods to dispose of and treat our wastes to prevent pollution.
Concern regarding the protection of the world's environment and seeking to be efficient in its use of energy and natural resources.
Encouraging the creation of environmentally friendly products and technologies through its design and development processes.
Environmental Management System Certification ISO14001
Rakon is committed to meeting our customer's expectations and ensuring the protection of the world's environment and natural resources. As part of this commitment, Rakon is certified to ISO14001 standard at its sites in Auckland, New Zealand and Bangalore, India.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS2/RoHS3) and Substances of Very High Concern (REACH) Policy
Rakon is committed to a clean, green, environment and fully supports all directives that encourage this. Rakon actively pursues methods for reducing harmful materials in all products manufactured and maintains compliant materials to all required standards. In particular Rakon will produce products that do not contain any chemicals, compounds or elements in compliance with RoHS2 (EU Directive 2011/65/EU), RoHS 3 (EU Directive 2015/863) amending Annex II to Directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronics equipment and EC 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances (REACH) – Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
Lead (Pb) Free Policy
Wherever it is technically and commercially viable Rakon will move its products to a Lead (Pb) free process that is compliant with international regulations and directives.
Where a product is not able to be moved to a compliant process Rakon will offer an alternative product which is compliant.
Our intention is that all Rakon products that are non-compliant will be phased out over a period of time as customers stop using them.
Rakon will not discontinue any product without offering a viable and agreed alternative to its customers and supporting them fully through the changeover process.
Conflict Minerals Statement
Rakon is committed to the highest standards of global social responsibility and will not condone any abuse of human rights. In this context the Company fully supports international actions for the responsible global supply chain management of tin, tantalum, tungsten, gold and cobalt and the prevention of human rights abuses in conflict-affected and high-risk areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and surrounding areas.
Suppliers are expected to ensure that components and materials supplied to Rakon are DRC conflict-free and to establish policies, due diligence frameworks and management systems, consistent with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, designed to accomplish this goal.
Rakon supports the development of the Conflict-Free Smelter (CFS) program by Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) and has either obtained, or is the process of obtaining, information concerning the origin of the metals that are used in components and materials supplied to the Company. Based upon information provided by our suppliers through Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) standards, Rakon's products do not knowingly contain metals derived from the DRC conflict region.
Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Rakon is committed to maintaining high labour standards in all companies within the Rakon Group, and to respecting the human rights of employees. It does not permit exploitative practices such as those the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (UK) is intended to address. Rakon policies prohibiting exploitative practices are actively maintained and reinforced through the Group’s management system.
